"He didn't have time to go for his gun." He nodded, moving away smoothly to spin her under his arm, and came in close again. "Caught me in the shoulder while we were grappling, but it's a shallow cut. Did more damage to my shirt than to me." He wasn't downplaying the injury, at least not intentionally. He'd taken far worse in his time, and so long as it was crusting over and not gouting blood, he saw no need to worry about this one.

"If they are your mother's men," he said slowly, after a moment, "who's more like to be the target, your folken or mine?" He hadn't quite gotten a handle on the situation in that family, and although his instinct was to guess that they were after him, he wanted to hear her thoughts on the matter.
